while i received a ton of great answers when I asked is face book safe I am still a little unclear. While I understand I can set my page to privet and not join net works is it true anyone can see your age, location and school even if your page is privet just by searching your name? Also I know you can cancel an account but if you log back in the account is activated. This tells me that even if the account is canceled anyone can still pull up the information i have already posted. This is safe how??

Reply:yup, everything meagiie said - it depends on how you use it. you can set up your account to not display your age, location, %26amp; school - ppl cannot find that information by searching your name if you set it up so that they can't.
I actually think facebook is very safe. I think they take safety very seriously, %26amp; in my personal opinion, of all the social networking sites, I think it is the safest. (though maybe not the most user-friendly when trying to navigate your way around setting up your privacy settings).
About cancelling the account, I believe it is deactivated until you login again - so no one can see your information unless you log in again. (but to be sure, I would e-mail the facebook ppl %26amp; see what they say). even so, I agree - I don't like that either. I don't think that makes it unsafe, but I think if you want to cancel something, it should be cancelled; it shouldn't be stored somewhere on a database, waiting for you to perhaps change your mind.

How do you all feel about when you on face book they tell you every little single thing your friends have done on there by that news feed and mini feed. Weiner was playing an online game the other day when he noticed a pop up window telling him that the web site was going to share his information with his Facebook profile. He had an option to say "no thanks," but like many people, Weiner figured he'd rather not get the message in the first place. So he found the offending requests were sent to "http://www.facebook.com/beacon/beacon.j...
So you could either add that URL to your BlockSite blacklist, or better yet, add "http://www.facebook.com/beacon/*"
to block any requests to the entire Beacon folder.
And now you have your privacy back. For now.

I’m having a problem with my face book profile. Remember the app that shows all the friends on your face Book profile that updated itself every moment you add or remove a friend? I’m not talking about the Top Friends or the Entourage apps, just the ‘Friends’ app. But my friends are still there. As far as I remember, my Friends app was right next to the Entourage app. I don’t know what to do and ca someone please help me with this?

Probably you just minimized the box. You can minimize any box on your profile by clicking on the title bar of that box. It will then just become a line on your profile. I have a tun of friends who are on face book or tagged who use their real names and everything. I feel a little weird about being worried but I don't see how doing that can be safe. I guess i don't really understand how face book works. I know there are a ton of people who post pictures and real names and are fine but I don't know if I would be. Can anyone explain how face book works and why it is safe?

Also if you post a picture it is better if you are making a face or at a distance or have on sunglasses. And always use a nickname not your real first and last name. Have fun but stay safe!
