Is face book safe?

I have a tun of friends who are on face book or tagged who use their real names and everything. I feel a little weird about being worried but I don't see how doing that can be safe. I guess i don't really understand how face book works. I know there are a ton of people who post pictures and real names and are fine but I don't know if I would be. Can anyone explain how face book works and why it is safe?

Is face book safe?
Facebook can be fun if you only add people from your real life that you know from your school. Do not add anyone else to your facebook page. Even if their picture looks Cute! Even if they say they are traveling to Europe and want to send you pictures! Even if they say they are rich or a movie star! Even if they say you are gorgeous! Also if you post a picture it is better if you are making a face or at a distance or have on sunglasses. And always use a nickname not your real first and last name. Have fun but stay safe!
Reply:of course its safe. just dont give out your address or your number or anythi ng. but also, ihave alot of friends who use their nick names or a differnet name because they dont want people to know their real names. and if you dont know that person; dont add them as your freind.
Reply:you can make your facebook COMPLETELY private. don't join a network for your school, just join one for your city or something. or just don't join one at all. just put in your first name %26amp; then last name first letter. once you have your account, go to privacy settings %26amp; make everyone restricted to just your friends. or even somethings only YOU can see but no one else.

facebook is safe, if you make it that way.
Reply:Facebook is safe if you add people u know. Because others u haven't add yet would not see your profile info or pics, they would only see your name and display picture. And i think the best way is to not add people who you do not know.
Reply:Facebook is made up of networks of schools, colleges, and workplaces. You can only see someone's profile if you are their friend, and if they confirm you are who you say you are.

I personally have one, and it is a lot better, safer, and cleaner than myspace. You can join networks and talk to people. There are groups, applications, and a cleaner interface.

I would recommend Facebook who wants a professional looking, fun social website.
Reply:yes comlpetely. just dont gve out too personal of information, and only add people that you know already as friends. as long as you are not friends with someone, or in their network, they cannot look at your profile. you can also adjust privacy settings to your liking.
