Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg. I wouldn't recommend anyone younger than high school age using Facebook, so it depends on what you define as "small kids under 18." Most high school students actively using their Facebook accounts are seniors, though I know some who are freshmen with accounts (but they are more or less inactive since most of their friends will not be active). Facebook is more or less secure compared to other social networking sites, though I do not see much of a point for students younger than high school age to be actively engaging in the Facebook community as there will not be many others their age using it.
Reply:YEAH ! Report It

Reply:I don't think it's really a good idea for anyone under 18, young people are less likely to think about the consequences and more likely to be influenced by others. Even at 18, you have to be sensible enough to realise that you are exposing yourself to everybody on Facebook. Friends, enemies, people you wouldn't touch with a pointy stick if you met them in real life. And what you post about yourself will be out there for a long time. There was a horrible case a month or so ago, a girl was led to believe that a boy on one of the social networking sites liked her, then 'he' dumped her. She killed herself, and it turned out that, 'oops' it was some sort of a prank.
Reply:I would not recommend any social networking sites for anyone under 16. I think those 16 and up can use common sense and are old enough to be on them. If you're a parent you need to monitor your child's internet use whether they're on these sites or not. I consider Facebook a lot safer and more wholesome than MySpace.
