Random face book question: what does it mean to be poked ?
It's just a why of acknowledging someone and drawing attention to yourself to one specific person. it does nothing special except tell th person you poked them.

If I poke you, if probably means I've jabbed a finger in your side and said, "hey listen up". Even people who work with cattle are sometimes called "pokes" because they literally move stock around with a prod, whip, or through some other means.
However, "poke" can have a sexual meaning. If a man says he has or wants to "poke" a woman, it can imply intercourse. Because of the aggressive violent nature of the term, it's not one that is popular, particularly among women.
