WHy wont our teacher add us on face book?
Why the heck wont our teacher add us on face book?
Why do u want urteacher...
Reply:From a professional standpoint you are the student and she is the teacher. You are not supposed to be buddies at this point. Getting too friendly with the students is not a good idea. Sure she wants to know about your life outside of school, but there need to be limits to the amount of familiarity she has with you. She is not being mean or trying to make you feel bad by not adding you, she is merely protecting herself, and you. Once you graduate things may be different, but for now please accept that this is best for all of you.
Reply:because the teacher doesn't want to think about you guys after school i guess
Reply:Your teacher wants to maintain a professional relationship with you. It would be inappropriate to communicate with you through a social networking site.
Reply:Teachers want their privacy, I have about 4 teachers that have MySpace at school and they won't add me. I talked to them about it and they said probably once I graduate they'll add me so we can keep in touch, but for now they won't. Plus most school teachers have their pages checked out by their employers and it would be awkward for a teacher to explain why there are so many students on his/her page. Even if it is innocent, some people view it as wrong. Plus teachers have lives outside of school that they wish to keep personal.
Reply:well.
it could go either way,
but if you have a strong connection with the teacher;;
meaning your parents are good friends with the teach or they have talked in a professional convo,
then ya they should add you (:
Reply:why would you WANT to be your teacher's friend on there?
wierdo.....
Reply:It can lead to other really harmful things. Teachers are not allowed to add students until they are out of their class. Personal life and work should be seprate.
Reply:It really would not be professional.
Reply:I'm a 25 year old 7th grade teacher. Last year I taught 8th grade. Both years my students have tried to add me on Facebook %26amp; MySpace on a weekly basis!
I do not add them because:
1. I'm their teacher - not their friend
2. I don't want them to know every single personal detail about me
3. I don't want them to be able to access pictures of my family
4. And, in this day in age, there are so many false accusations of inappropriate behavior amongst teachers/students - I just stay away from all of it entirely
5. Plus - I have my OWN friends! They should get their own too!
Reply:because that can be illeagle and they dont want to get in trobble
Reply:I dont think they would want you to see what they are doing or hanging out with.... its kind of weird too. I know there are some preety cool and nice teachers out there BUT You do your stuff i do mine...
Reply:they're not allowed to.
Reply:It could lead to many misunderstandings. And why take a risk like that. I'm a teacher who uses facebook.
Reply:Teachers are actually recommended not even to use social networks, such as facebook. There could be inappropriate comments or pictures on them that could undermine a teacher's reputation or authority. I'm a teacher and use facebook to keep in touch with my college friends. I just keep it in my maiden name so that my students won't find me.
Reply:As a new teacher who has had facebook since college and who currently teaches high school seniors, my students are often confused as to why I won't add them.
Mostly it comes down to the fact that I have a ton of pictures on there, and I would hate to have to screen absolutely everything - wall, pictures, friends, groups, etc. I don't have much on there that is suspect, but I would prefer not to have some things floating around.
I really do wish that there was an easy way around this, as I do really enjoy my students. Maybe if they wanted to add me in a few years (once they've been in college for a while, and come back and visit) - it would be different.
Reply:As a teacher who is on facebook, I don't want any of my students to be my friend. I am their teacher. I am supposed to teach them, not be their buddy. I want my buddies to be people who already graduated from high school.
